Overview
The overlook on Bald Hills Road takes in thousands of acres across the Redwood Creek valley to the Pacific Ocean, and it is used for sunsets and stargazing. The valley shows a clear contrast between dark green old-growth redwood forest and lighter green second-growth forest. Fog and clouds can limit visibility.
What to See
Interpretive panels use historical photos to explain the impacts of 20th century industrial logging and document ecosystem restoration in the park since the late 1970s. A poetry installation by U.S. Poet Laureate Ada Limón is also sited here. Facilities include parking, picnic tables, and a vault toilet.
