Overview
The formations are monzogranite, the same rock that makes Joshua Tree a climbing destination, weathered into rounded walls and corridors. A loop walk circles the rocks, and two slots (one of them a tight squeeze) run between them. Climbers come for the many bolted and traditional routes on the faces.
Know Before You Go
The parking area is on Park Boulevard between Hidden Valley and Ryan Mountain. The slots involve scrambling and tight spaces, so bring a light if you explore them. There is no water or shade; carry water and plan around summer heat.
