Overview
Freshwater Lagoon formed where river freshwater collected behind a natural sandspit; Highway 101 runs along that spit. It is the northernmost of four coastal lagoons in the area, and half of it lies within Redwood National Park boundaries.
What to Do
The lagoon supports kayaking, swimming, fishing, and boating. A boat ramp on the northwest side has parking for vehicles, kayaks, and boat trailers. Anglers need a California fishing license. The site provides beach and water access and a small-boat launch.
