Know Before You Go
This is a hot, steep climb, so plan to hike early in the day or late in the evening to avoid the heat. The first campsite is at Lower Tent Meadow, 4 miles in, which has a bear box. An overnight trip into this terrain requires a wilderness permit; check current permit requirements before you go.
