Overview

The pullout sits along the Generals Highway in the foothills zone of Sequoia National Park, between Hospital Rock and the Giant Forest Museum. From the viewpoint you can see Moro Rock and the steep elevation change that the highway makes from the foothills up to the granite peaks. The craggy formation across the canyon is Castle Rocks, which can hold snow in winter.

Wildlife

The foothills support animals year round. Reptiles, birds, and small mammals are present in all seasons. During cooler months, deer and bears move downhill in search of food. Foxes are sometimes seen in the early evening and twilight hours.

Know Before You Go

A sidewalk of smooth concrete runs to the viewpoint on a moderate slope without handrails, and there are no designated parking spaces. Highway speeds here are often high and visibility is limited, so use caution when pulling in and out and when crossing to the overlook.
