Overview
44 Camp lies far up the Redwood Creek drainage, reached by a 13-mile one-way route from the Orick Horse Trailhead. The four sites have picnic tables, bear-proof lockers, and fire pits. There are no toilets, so campers follow Leave No Trace practices. Water from the creek is non-potable and must be treated before drinking.
Know Before You Go
A free backcountry permit is required and is available only online. The distance and lack of facilities make this a site for prepared, self-sufficient backpackers. Seasonal footbridge removal on the Redwood Creek route can affect access and creek crossings; check current conditions before setting out.
