The Camp

The campground sits directly on the banks of Stoney Creek where it meets Trinity Lake at 2,370 feet elevation. Tall trees provide shade over the group sites, which come equipped with flush toilets, drinking water, a group pedestal grill, fire ring, several tables, and bear-proof food lockers. The Trinity Alps rise around the lake, creating a mountain-ringed setting for your group gathering.

The Lake Scene

Trinity Lake offers the full menu of water activities β€” power boating, water skiing, fishing, and non-motorized paddling. The adjacent Stoney Creek Swim Area provides a beach and picnic tables for your group's use. Anglers can work the waters for catfish, bass, trout, and salmon. With a boat ramp and marina less than a mile away, launching watercraft is straightforward.

What to Know

This is bear country. Black bears are frequently spotted here, along with bobcats and mountain lions, making those bear-proof food lockers essential rather than optional. The campground's location within Shasta-Trinity National Forest β€” California's largest β€” puts you in a landscape that encompasses five wilderness areas and over 6,000 miles of streams and rivers.

The historic mining town of Weaverville sits nearby, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It offers restaurants, shopping, and self-guided walking tours if your group wants a break from lake time.
