This single group site in the Barton Flats area handles up to 100 people and 20 vehicles, making it the big-group option in the San Bernardino Mountains. At 6,400 feet in dense pine forest, it's base camp for the Santa Ana River Trail and nearby Jenks Lake fishing.

Amenities
The Camp
The campground offers one large group site that accommodates both tents and RVs, though there are no utility hookups. Gravel and dirt roads lead to a parking area surrounded by dense pine forest. The site includes multiple picnic tables, a central campfire circle, and grills, with tent pads positioned in shaded areas while group gathering spaces sit in more open terrain.
Flush toilets and drinking water are provided on-site. The entrance is shared with the neighboring Lobo Group Campground, and both camps sit in habitat that supports various wildlife and bird species.
Trails and Water
The Santa Ana River Trail launches directly from the campground β part of the ambitious route that will eventually connect the mountains to the Pacific Ocean. Currently, the trail serves hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians seeking mountain views.
The Rio Monte Trail also starts here, leading to Rio Monte Panorama with its overlook of the Santa Ana River Valley gorge. For fishing and non-motorized boating, Jenks Lake sits nearby with rainbow trout, largemouth bass, bluegill, sunfish, and catfish. Rowboats, canoes, and kayaks are permitted, and the Santa Ana River offers additional fishing opportunities.
What to Know
Group sites book 12 months in advance, and at this price point, you're committed once you reserve. The Grayback Amphitheater on State Route 38 runs weekend educational programs during summer months, hosted by the San Gorgonio Wilderness Association and focused on local history.
With 100-person capacity, this site works for large family reunions, scout groups, or corporate retreats that want mountain access without backcountry logistics.
