The Camp

The campground spreads through a mixed conifer forest that keeps sites shaded throughout the day. Each of the 10 sites comes with a picnic table, food storage box, and fire ring, connected by native surface and gravel roads. Sites 1, 7, and 8 can accommodate tent trailers, while the rest work best for tent camping.

The Tuolumne River flows nearby β€” a 150-mile waterway that starts in the central Sierra Nevada and eventually joins the San Joaquin River. The proximity to water adds to the setting without the noise of a major highway.

What to Know

Reservations are required, and at $33 per night, you're paying for the Yosemite access more than luxury amenities. The campground provides drinking water and vault toilets, covering the basics without frills.

Dogs are welcome but must follow Tuolumne County leash laws. The elevation keeps things cooler than the Central Valley, making spring and fall the prime seasons before winter weather moves in.

Nearby

The Little Golden Forest Trail starts right from camp β€” a half-mile interpretive loop that extends to two miles if you want more distance. The Tuolumne River requires only a short drive for fishing and wading.

Yosemite's waterfalls and main attractions are close enough for day trips, while the Stanislaus National Forest wilderness areas offer backcountry options without the permit hassles. Groveland provides resupply and dining options when camp food gets old.
