The Camp
Nine sites spread through mixed conifer forest along Landslide Creek, with six designated tent-only and the rest accommodating RVs up to 16 feet. The compacted dirt surfaces and creek setting give it a backcountry feel despite the developed amenities. Black bear country means mandatory food storage rules — check the specifics when you arrive.
What to Know
Reservations required, and the spring and fall seasons keep the booking window tight. Campfire permits are mandatory for all fires, barbecues, and camp stoves — grab one online or at the ranger station before you arrive. Fire restrictions change seasonally, so check current conditions. The $36 nightly fee reflects the monument location and access to the trail system.
Nearby
Two giant sequoia groves sit within hiking distance of camp, offering direct access to the monument's trail network. These trails accommodate hikers, horses, and bikes outside wilderness boundaries, winding through the groves and up into the mountains alongside wild rivers. Hume Lake provides additional recreation options nearby.
The real draw is proximity to heavyweight attractions: General Sherman Tree and General Grant Tree are both accessible, plus the full trail systems of Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. The OHV road network adds another dimension for those with the right equipment.
