The Setting

The property occupies an open valley containing two man-made lakes surrounded by pine and oak trees, plus small fruit and nut orchards. It's a departure from standard campground campingโ€”you're renting one of two log cabins rather than pitching a tent. The Lakeside Cabin handles up to 12 people in 1,550 square feet across two stories, while the Hillside Cabin accommodates 10 in 1,400 square feet. Both feature 8-foot covered decks on three sides, full kitchens, living areas, and hot showers.

The horse facilities set this place apart: a barn, hay shed, pasture, and corrals let you bring your own animals for riding. Fishing and canoeing are options on the property's lakes, following standard California fish and game regulations.

What to Know

The cabins come equipped with electricity, laundry facilities, and grills (bring your own charcoal), but you'll need to pack linens, towels, toiletries, toilet paper, food, and trash bags. Firewood is available in Springville before you drive up.

Weather varies significantly at this elevation. Expect warm afternoons and chilly nights, plus afternoon thunderstorms. Snow dustings happen in early spring and late fall, so pack layers regardless of season.

The surrounding land is public, accessible to walk-in visitors, so expect some foot traffic even though you're renting the cabins. The valley's openness and mix of riparian areas, mixed conifer forest, and fruit trees create habitat diversity you won't find in typical forest campgrounds.
