The Camp

Set among pines near 87-acre Hume Lake, this group facility operates as a single reservation for up to 100 guests. The campground provides the standard developed amenities: vault toilets, drinking water, fire rings, picnic tables, and food storage lockers. At 5,250 feet elevation, you're in the timber zone of the Sierra Nevada, surrounded by the vast stands that once supported commercial logging operations.

The lake itself was constructed to serve that logging industry and now sits as the centerpiece for group activities. Rocky Mountain Recreation Company operates the facility.

What to Know

This is reservation-only group camping with a $484 nightly fee. The campground books as a single unit, making it suitable for family reunions, youth groups, or organized events that need exclusive use of a lakefront site.

The setting puts you in the Kings River Watershed, part of the broader Sequoia National Forest system that spans about 1.1 million acres. Elevations across the forest range from 1,000 to 12,000 feet, creating the dramatic topography of precipitous canyons and mountain streams.

Nearby

Hume Lake offers trout fishing, swimming, and non-motorized boating, with several hiking paths along the shoreline. Mountain biking is also permitted around the lake. The broader forest contains more than 30 groves of giant sequoias on lower slopes, plus waterfalls like Salmon Creek Falls and Grizzly Falls accessible via the network of canyons and mountain streams.
