The Camp

The campground occupies forested terrain along Jackson Meadow Reservoir's western shore, with single-family sites spread through pine and fir trees. Each site comes with the standard picnic table and fire ring setup, plus access to flushing toilets and drinking water β€” a step up from the vault toilets common in more remote Forest Service camps. The rolling forested valley setting provides views of the Sierra Crest and English Mountain across the water.

On the Water

Jackson Meadow Reservoir handles the full range of water activities: boating, water skiing, swimming, and fishing for rainbow and brown trout. The boat ramp and designated swim beach sit within the same Woodcamp Recreation Area as the campground, so you're not driving to access points. Canoeists and anglers will find this more manageable than the larger, busier reservoirs closer to Tahoe.

Beyond Camp

A half-mile interpretive nature trail runs through the adjacent Woodcamp Campground if you want an easy walk. More ambitious hikers can pick up the Pacific Crest Trail, which runs along the reservoir's east side. The surrounding area draws hunters during season and offers mountain biking opportunities, though specific trail details aren't spelled out in forest materials.
