The Camp

This is tent camping only β€” no RVs or trailers. Each of the 15 sites comes with a picnic table, fire ring, and bear box, but you'll need to walk your gear from the parking area since vehicles can't access the sites directly. The campground stretches along the North Yuba River under a mixed canopy of oak, maple, locust, and pine that provides good shade.

Vault toilets and drinking water are available, but the facility is unstaffed. At $24 per night, it's a straightforward river camping experience without frills.

The Water

The North Yuba River runs right through camp, offering swimming holes and wading spots when the water's right. Rainbow trout fishing is available, and depending on seasonal flows, you might see rafters, kayakers, and tubers coming through. The river is the main attraction here β€” sites are positioned to take advantage of the water access.

Nearby

A network of trails covers the surrounding Tahoe National Forest terrain, suitable for both hiking and mountain biking. The North Yuba Trail is accessible via footbridge at nearby Rocky Rest Campground. Hunting is permitted in the surrounding area during appropriate seasons.

Downieville, 12 miles down Highway 49, serves as the supply town and is known as a mountain biking hub with additional trail access and services.
