The Camp

The campground spreads across 41 single and five double family sites connected by paved roads and spurs. Each site comes with a picnic table and campfire pit with grill, plus access to drinking water and vault toilets. You're camping in mixed conifers at elevation, with Cherry Lake accessible via hiking trail from camp.

Getting here requires patience — the mountain road winds and demands slow speeds, but that's part of what keeps Cherry Valley from feeling overrun.

What to Know

Reservations are required, and the season typically runs from the last Friday in April (first day of fishing season) through fall, though exact dates depend on weather conditions. The campground sits about an hour east of Tuolumne City and an hour northeast of Groveland, placing you 2.5 hours from Yosemite's northwestern border.

Cherry Lake offers the full water sports menu — swimming, boating, and fishing — with a boat ramp located near the dam off Cherry Lake Road. Anglers have their pick of species, from the resident rainbow and German brown trout to eastern brook trout and kokanee salmon.

Dogs are welcome but must follow Tuolumne County leash laws. For specific facility information, call (801) 226-3564.
