Amenities

🚻Vault Toilets

The Camp

The 12 single-family sites line the banks of the Little Truckee River among sparse Jeffrey pine and fir. Shade is limited, so morning and evening sites will be more comfortable in summer heat. Each site comes with a picnic table and fire ring with grill. Vault toilets are available, but pack your own water β€” there's none on-site.

The sparse tree cover means you'll hear the river clearly from most sites, and anglers can walk directly from camp to productive stretches of water. The setting feels remote despite being a short drive from town.

The Fishing

The Little Truckee River runs right through camp and holds rainbow and brown trout. It's designated catch-and-release and known as one of Northern California's better fly-fishing streams. You can work the water in both directions from the campground without needing to drive anywhere.

Nearby

Boca Reservoir sits a couple miles south for boating, swimming, and fishing. Stampede Reservoir is less than six miles north with similar water activities plus water skiing. Both lakes offer a change of pace from river fishing.

Truckee, 20 minutes away, has full services: restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations, and gear shops. Lake Tahoe is 35 minutes away if you want to join the crowds for a day.

The area offers hiking, mountain biking, and OHV trails, including access to Prosser Pits OHV area. Historic trails include the Boca Townsite Interpretive Trail and Donner Camp Interpretive Trail.
