The Camp
The campground consists of one large group site designed for tent camping, tucked into mature conifers south of Big Bear Lake. The dirt road access keeps it somewhat secluded from the main highway traffic. The site comes equipped with picnic tables, grills, and a campfire circle for group gatherings. Vault toilets are provided, but you'll need to bring your own water and pack out all trash β there are no services for either.
What to Know
Group sites can be reserved 12 months in advance, which you'll want to do given there's only one site. The $10 per night fee makes this one of the more affordable group camping options in Southern California's mountains. Since there's no drinking water on-site, plan your water needs carefully for a group of up to 40 people.
Nearby
The Seven Oaks Trail heads west from Big Bear Lake Village, offering access to views of San Gorgonio Peak β Southern California's highest point. The 30-year-old trail shows its age with overgrown sections, so expect some bushwhacking. Big Bear Lake itself provides fishing for trout, bluegill, crappie, catfish, and largemouth bass, plus boating and swimming opportunities. The Big Bear Discovery Center sits about 10 miles away with educational programs, an interpretive trail, and area information.
