Amenities
The Camp
The campground spreads across a peninsula on Boca Reservoir's western shore. Sites are equipped with picnic tables and fire rings with grills, scattered among stands of mature Jeffrey pine and fir trees. The open layout means some sites catch shade while others sit fully exposed. A few sites are designated tent-only, but most accommodate RVs and trailers.
No drinking water is available β pack what you need or plan to resupply in Truckee. Vault toilets handle the basics, but this isn't a full-service facility.
On the Water
Boca Reservoir draws boaters, water skiers, and swimmers. The boat ramp sits less than a mile from camp, making launch convenient for those hauling watercraft. The reservoir's size supports water skiing and general powerboat recreation.
For anglers, the Little Truckee River runs nearby and offers catch-and-release fly fishing. The surrounding area includes hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails, plus off-road vehicle routes for those bringing dirt bikes or ATVs.
What to Know
Reservations are required. The campground operates under Lake Tahoe Hospitality LLC for the Tahoe National Forest.
Between the dam and railroad tracks, the Boca Townsite Interpretive Trail tells the story of historic Boca β from Central Pacific Railroad construction camp to mill town to brewery site. It's a short walk that adds context to the area's industrial past.
Truckee sits fifteen minutes away for resupply runs, restaurants, and services. Lake Tahoe is twenty-five minutes south for those wanting to sample the big lake's offerings. Stampede Reservoir, twelve miles north, provides another water option with similar recreation opportunities.
