The hike to Miller Point covers 9 miles round trip from Bear Valley through Douglas fir forest and along Bear Valley Creek before emerging at a coastal headland on Drakes Bay, with views of sea stacks, the former Arch Rock site, and Limantour Beach. It's the full Bear Valley Trail to the coast.
Overview
Bear Valley Trail is the main corridor from the visitor center to the coast, following the creek through shaded forest before climbing slightly through coastal scrub to Miller Point. The Arch Rock sea arch collapsed in 2015; the site remains an interesting coastal viewpoint. No safe beach access at Miller Point itself.
What to Expect
The trail is wide, well-maintained, and multi-use (bikes and horses permitted). The forest gives way to coastal scrub as you near the bluffs. Facilities (vault toilet, water) are at Divide Meadow at the 1.6-mile mark; nothing beyond that point.
Tips & Logistics
Starts at the Bear Valley Trailhead. Dogs are not allowed. No permit required. Bikes permitted on the Bear Valley Trail. Allow 5โ6 hours for the full round trip. The coastal bluffs are exposed and can be windy.
