Inside the cave
Thunderbolt runs about 2,561 feet. Some squeezes narrow to roughly 6 inches, and stooping is needed through other sections. A helmet and at least three light sources are required, and a free permit with white-nose syndrome screening comes from the visitor center. The cave has been closed at times for bat protection, so confirm it is open before going in.
