Overview
Solstice Canyon sits at the intersection of Corral Canyon Road and Solstice Canyon Road in Malibu. Trails range from easy to strenuous and pass through coastal sage scrub and riparian plant communities. Acorn woodpeckers, alligator and fence lizards, and red-tailed hawks are common.
Trails and Ruins
The Solstice Canyon Trail follows the canyon floor to a perennial waterfall and is the gentler route. The steeper Rising Sun Trail climbs the canyon wall and gives ocean views. Along the way are the ruins of the Keller House, a stone hunting cabin built more than a hundred years ago and damaged by fire in 2007, and the stone and brick remains of the Roberts Ranch house, designed in 1952 by architect Paul Revere Williams.
Know Before You Go
The National Park Service manages the canyon. Parking, restrooms, and picnic tables are available at the entrance.
