Overview
Rocky Oaks lies in the 31500 block of Mulholland Highway, west of the Kanan Road intersection. Gentle loop trails pass through several plant communities and overlook a seasonal, human-made pond. The pond once watered cattle and now, when rain refills it, supplies water to rabbits, coyotes, bobcats, raccoons, and deer. Tule, cattail, and willow grow at its edge, and water birds such as buffleheads, mallards, and coots use it. This is NPS-managed land, so leashed dogs are permitted on the trails (six-foot maximum leash).
