Merrill Cave is a lava tube near the visitor center that once held a large permanent ice floor, since melted away. It is rated among the least challenging caves.

Inside the cave
Merrill runs about 650 feet. It was long known for an ice floor at its lower level, which has since disappeared. A stairway and platform reach down into the cave. A helmet and three light sources are required to go in, as for every cave in the monument.
