Overview
King Gillette Ranch sits at the lower end of the Las Virgenes Valley, adjacent to Malibu Creek State Park, near the confluence of major tributaries in the Malibu Creek watershed. The 588-acre site centers on a Spanish Colonial Revival mansion and grounds built in the 1920s for razor magnate King C. Gillette and designed by Wallace Neff. The landscape includes a constructed pond, courtyard, terrace, bridges, and lawns.
Visitor Center
The Santa Monica Mountains Interagency Visitor Center stands at the ranch, at 26876 Mulholland Highway in Calabasas. It serves as the park's main public information point, with exhibits and trail access. A trail leads to Inspiration Point and its views across the surrounding mountains; the ranch also hosts weekly summer campfire programs.
Know Before You Go
The site is managed and operated by the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority in partnership with the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy. Dog rules are split: dogs are allowed on the National Park Service area near the visitor center, but not on the rest of the ranch.
