Overview

Edward Drake homesteaded the property in the 1880s, and it later developed into a guest ranch with a lodge, dining hall, and bungalow units. Meals are included with overnight stays. A swimming pool fed by hydrothermal springs has long been part of the ranch. The property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Know Before You Go

The 2021 Dixie Fire destroyed two bungalow units, the annex, and the water plant, while most other structures survived. Drakesbad continues to operate as in-park lodging. Reservations, managed by the park's concessioner, typically fill close to a year in advance. Vehicle access and parking at the ranch are limited to guests.
