
Circle X Ranch is a former Boy Scout camp in the canyons above Malibu, below Boney Mountain, now run by the National Park Service as a trailhead and picnic site in one of the park's more remote sections.

Overview
Circle X Ranch sits at 12896 Yerba Buena Road, below Boney Mountain in the western Santa Monica Mountains. The former scout camp now serves as a base for hiking through coastal Mediterranean habitat. Facilities include a ranger station, parking, restrooms, water, and picnic areas.
Trails
The Sandstone Peak Trail climbs to Sandstone Peak, the highest point in the Santa Monica Mountains at 3,111 feet. The Mishe Mokwa Trailhead lies about 1.75 miles north of the contact station and connects to a longer loop. The Happy Hollow Loop Trail passes creekside picnic spots at Oak Grove. The Backbone Trail also runs through this part of the park.
Know Before You Go
This is NPS-managed land. Dogs are allowed but must stay on a leash at all times, and owners must pick up after them. The location is remote, so check road and trail conditions before driving out.
