The Place
The Governor's Mansion is a Victorian stick-style home built in 1877, purchased by the state in 1903 for $32,500 and used as the executive residence for 14 California governors — from George Pardee through Ronald Reagan, who declined to move in. The interior retains period furnishings and decorative pieces from the occupancy years, and the carriage house holds a small gift shop. Located in downtown Sacramento at 1526 H Street, in what was once the city's most prestigious residential neighborhood.
