Turkey Flat serves one crowd well: off-road riders who want to roll straight from their tent to 45 miles of marked trails. This is a staging area first, campground second, where ATVs and dirt bikes are the main attraction and the Pacific Coast views are a bonus.

Amenities
The Camp
Turkey Flat keeps things simple with an open camping area where picnic tables and fire rings sit among oak, conifer, and chaparral. The terrain here is rocky and hard-packed, which works for the off-road vehicles but means tent campers should bring a good pad. On clear days, the views stretch from the coastline to the Sierra Mountains, with Pozo Summit and Black Mountain visible at 2,635 and 3,622 feet respectively.
The staging area sits near the fee boards, making it easy to unload gear and head straight to the trails. Two vault toilets serve the entire campground, and that's about it for facilities.
What to Know
Come prepared to be completely self-sufficient. There's no potable water onsite and no dump station, so bring everything you need for the duration of your stay. The campground operates first-come, first-served year-round at $30 per night.
The trail system caters to all skill levels, from a dedicated kids track for beginners to challenging routes for experienced riders. Single track, dual sport, ATV, and quad runners all find suitable terrain within the 45-mile network, all accessible directly from camp.
Nearby
While the off-road trails are the main draw, hiking, biking, fishing, and shopping are available within 29 miles if you want to mix up the recreation. The campground's location puts you in position for both motorized and non-motorized adventures, though most visitors come specifically for the OHV access.
