The Camp

Table Mountain Group Campground operates as tent-only camping for groups of up to 25 people. The setup includes vault toilets, bear boxes, and campfire rings, with Bishop Creek flowing adjacent to the campsite. Jeffrey pines provide the forest canopy, and you're positioned on Table Mountain itself within the White Mountain Ranger District.

The creek holds trout for those inclined to fish, and the surrounding terrain offers wildlife viewing opportunities. Nearby glaciers and lakes contribute to the alpine setting at this elevation.

Nearby

The Tyee Lakes Trail begins less than a mile up the road, providing views of the Inconsolable Range and the peaks around South Lake. The campground's location near John Muir Wilderness means multiple trailheads are accessible for hiking and horseback riding.

The John Muir Trail connects into John Muir Wilderness from this area, with views toward Devils Postpile available along the route. Within a few miles, you can reach a boat ramp and convenience store for additional supplies or lake access.

The broader White Mountain Ranger District encompasses the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest, numerous 14,000-foot peaks, and the glacial lakes that characterize this section of the Sierra Nevada.
