The Camp
Fir and pine trees shade the campsites, creating natural air conditioning that makes the elevation work in your favor β hot days cool off as evening settles in. Being positioned on Bucks Lake's western shore means water access without the hike, whether you're watering horses or launching a canoe.
On the Water
Bucks Lake anchors the recreation here. The Shady Point boat ramp offers a proper dock for launching, plus showers and day-use picnic areas if you want to extend your time on the water. Fishing, boating, and canoeing all happen right from camp.
Trail Access
The hiking requires a short drive rather than walk-up access. Mill Creek Campground has trailheads, as does the Mill Creek Trailhead on the route to Bucks Summit. At Bucks Summit itself, you'll find access to both the Pacific Crest Trail and the Bucks Creek Loop trail.
Year-Round Appeal
The Bucks Lake area shifts with the seasons. Summer brings the lake activities and hiking. Winter transforms it into snowmobiling, skiing, and snowshoeing territory, though camp access and conditions will vary.
