Spring Cove sits in an oak, pine, and cedar grove across from Bass Lake, designed for groups but feeling more intimate than most. The sites cluster together in the shade — good for group cohesion, less ideal if you're seeking solitude. This is base camp for Bass Lake activities with Yosemite an hour away.

Amenities
The Camp
The campground occupies a shaded grove with sites positioned close together, which works in favor of its group camping purpose. Paved and dirt parking spurs are short, and tight turns make this unsuitable for large RVs or travel trailers — think tents and smaller rigs. Each site gets a picnic table and fire ring, with flush toilets and drinking water available.
Being across the street from Bass Lake puts you within walking distance of the beach and boat ramp, though you'll cross a road to get there. The 3,400-foot elevation keeps things comfortable during shoulder seasons.
On the Water
Bass Lake delivers the full menu of water activities: swimming, motorized boating, water skiing, sailing, and fishing for bass, trout, bluegill, and catfish. The lake's popularity shows — this isn't a hidden gem, especially during summer months when weekend educational programs run.
Bald and golden eagles nest in the area, so keep eyes up when you're on or near the water.
Trails and Beyond
The 2.6-mile Spring Cove Trail begins within the campground. Nearby options include the Willow Creek Trail (2.7 miles), Goat Mountain Trail (2.6 miles), and the Way-of-the-Mono Interpretive Trail, which covers a mile and offers cultural context for the area.
Yosemite National Park sits under an hour away, making day trips feasible. Given the campground's group focus, this proximity works well for organized outings.
Timing Your Visit
Reservations are required, with group sites bookable up to 12 months in advance. Spring and fall offer the best balance of weather and smaller crowds, avoiding Bass Lake's busy summer season when the area sees heavy use.
