North Fork Campground sits where Spanish Creek and Indian Creek converge to form the east branch of the North Fork Feather River, putting you right at the heart of Feather River Canyon. Recent upgrades haven't stripped away the campground's original character, and you're a short walk from trout fishing and swimming holes along the river.

The Camp
The campground occupies a spot along Highway 70 just east of the Highway 89 junction, at 2,000 feet elevation in Feather River Canyon. Sites accommodate both tents and RVs, though without hookups β each comes with the standard table and fire ring setup. Vault toilets and drinking water keep things functional without being fancy.
The setting puts you in classic Plumas National Forest terrain: deep canyons, mountain valleys, and meadows backed by higher peaks. The recent upgrades mean improved facilities while maintaining the feel of a traditional Forest Service camp.
The Water
The real draw here is water access. The Feather River runs within walking distance, stocked with rainbow trout for anglers. The river and nearby North Fork also work for swimming and wading when temperatures climb. Having two waterways converge right at your doorstep means multiple spots to fish or cool off without driving anywhere.
What to Know
Services aren't far if you need them β a full-service store, gas, and phone service sit less than 10 miles away. The Highway 70 location makes this an accessible base camp for exploring the broader Plumas National Forest, with its network of streams, lakes, and backcountry access points.
