Mill Creek sits along a seasonal stream in Mendocino National Forest's chaparral country, primarily serving the off-highway vehicle crowd. The six roadside sites with basic amenities work best in winter and early spring when the creek runs full and fishing picks up.

The Camp
Six campsites line the road through this small campground, each with a picnic table and fire ring. Mill Creek flows through the area, though it's seasonal β expect decent water flow in winter and early spring, less reliable later in the year. The setting is typical chaparral vegetation rather than forest canopy.
What to Know
This is strictly first-come, first-served camping. You need to show up in person to claim and pay for a site using the Recreation.gov mobile app's Scan and Pay feature via QR code. Download the app before you arrive since cell service can be spotty in remote areas.
The campground caters heavily to OHV users, with developed roads and trails nearby funded through California's Green Sticker program. If you're bringing dirt bikes or ATVs, you'll need current registration (Green/Red Sticker or highway license), DOT helmets, and Forest Service-approved spark arresters. Sound limits are 96 dba or lower.
Fishing is the main draw for non-motorized visitors, best when Mill Creek runs full in winter and early spring. The Stonyford Work Center at (530) 963-3128 provides current trail conditions and closure information for the area.
Nearby
The Nail Track OHV Play Area sits close to the campground, making this a logical base camp for dirt bike and ATV trips. The Stonyford Area Motor Vehicle Opportunity Guide details the trail network and regulations for the broader Grindstone District.
