Fouts serves the off-highway vehicle crowd with a straightforward base camp for exploring Mendocino National Forest's trail network. At $5 per night, it's bare-bones but functional — tables, vault toilet, and room for 50-foot trailers among the gray pines and brush.

Amenities
The Camp
Eleven sites with tables and fire rings spread through gray pine and chaparral. The single vault toilet meets accessibility standards, and there's a dumpster for trash. Sites accommodate trailers up to 50 feet, making this one of the more RV-friendly spots for motorized recreation in the forest.
The setting is utilitarian rather than scenic — this is a staging area, not a destination camp. Expect the sound of engines and the company of fellow OHV enthusiasts.
What to Know
First-come, first-served only. Pay on-site using the Recreation.gov app's QR code scan feature, but download the app before arrival since cell service can be spotty in remote forest locations.
California OHV regulations apply throughout the area: current registration (Green or Red Sticker or highway license), DOT-approved helmets for motorcycles, spark arresters, and sound limits of 96 decibels or lower. Unlicensed juveniles need adult supervision.
For current trail conditions and closures in the Grindstone District, contact the Stonyford Work Center at (530) 963-3128.
Nearby
The Bathhouse Trailhead sits less than a mile away, connecting to the Deafy Glade trail system and linking up with Dixie Glade Equestrian Campground, Summit Springs trail, and the broader Snow Mountain Wilderness. The Forest Service maintains an extensive network of roads and trails here, developed with California OHV funds specifically for motorized recreation.
