The Camp

Twenty-seven sites spread through mixed aspen and pine forest, with the better ones positioned along Bishop Creek's banks. Each site comes with the standard setup: picnic table, fire ring with grill, and bear box. The creek-side spots give you water sounds and fishing access right from camp, while the back sites offer more privacy among the trees.

Bear boxes are mandatory here — the 48-inch lockers handle most family camping loads, but anything that smells goes in the box. A camphost stays on-site during season, which keeps things running smoothly and gives you someone to ask about local conditions.

Facilities

Water and toilets covered with one accessible flush toilet and two vault toilets scattered through the campground. Basic setup, but functional for a forest service camp. The bear boxes and grills mean you can cook and store food properly without hauling extra gear.

What to Know

Bishop Creek flows year-round through the campground, making this a fishing-friendly base camp. The junction of two creek forks means varied water — some pools, some runs, decent habitat for trout. Wildlife viewing opportunities exist given the creek corridor and mixed forest, though specifics depend on season and timing.

The aspen component means fall colors if you time it right, typically late September through early October depending on elevation and weather patterns.
