The Camp

The campground spreads through Sierra Nevada pines at 6,225 feet elevation, with 25 double sites and 6 triple sites designed for tents only. Each site includes a bear-proof food locker, picnic table, and fire ring with cooking grate, plus a paved parking pad. Flush toilets and coin-operated showers serve the campground, and the property maintains 24-hour staffing.

A paved bike path connects the campground to Lake Tahoe in about 10 minutes on foot. The resort's Bar and Grill, General Store with deli, full-service marina, and ice cream parlor are all within walking distance.

What to Know

Check-in happens at the Eagles Nest Campground Kiosk on Highway 89. The General Store sells firewood and camping supplies on-site. Dogs aren't permitted except for service animals β€” this is a no-pets resort.

The southern shore location puts you near several Tahoe landmarks: Tallac Historic Site, Emerald Bay, Pope Beach, Baldwin Beach, Fallen Leaf Lake, and Mt. Tallac are all nearby. The resort's marina provides direct lake access for boating and paddling, while the surrounding area offers hiking and biking trails.

Camp Richardson blends campground basics with resort conveniences β€” you get the tent camping experience without giving up amenities like prepared food and boat rentals.
