The Camp

Dense forest of oak, cedar, and pine creates a shaded setting away from Bass Lake's shoreline bustle. The seven group sites handle different crowd sizes β€” from 12-person family reunions to 30-person corporate retreats. Each site comes with the basics: grills, fire rings, and tables. Portable toilets handle sanitation, but you'll need to haul in your own water.

The forest canopy means no direct lake views from camp, which some groups prefer for the quieter atmosphere it provides compared to waterfront campgrounds.

What to Know

Crane Valley will be closed the entire 2019-2028 camping season due to massive hazard tree removal. Check current status before planning any trips.

When operational, this is group camping only β€” no individual sites available. The range of site capacities means you can find something whether you're planning a smaller gathering or need space for a larger crowd.

Nearby

Bass Lake anchors the recreation scene with motorized and non-motorized boating, fishing, swimming, and water skiing. California Land Management runs interpretive programs throughout summer at various Bass Lake locations.

Yosemite National Park sits less than an hour away, making it a realistic day trip destination. The contrast works well β€” spend your days in Yosemite's granite landscape, then return to the forested Sierra Nevada foothills for evening campfires.

The location puts you in Sierra National Forest terrain that ranges from oak-covered foothills through heavily forested middle elevations up to High Sierra alpine country, depending on how far you want to venture from base camp.
