The Camp
Christie occupies a mature conifer forest of pines and firs on Eagle Lake's southwestern shore at 5,100 feet. The 69 sites spread out with paved parking spurs, picnic tables, and fire rings with grills. Nearly half feature pull-through parking, and nine larger sites are designated for groups. The campground sits where the Sierras meet the Cascades, creating diverse landscapes across the 22,000-acre lake basin.
The 5.2-mile paved bike trail connecting all Eagle Lake recreation facilities begins here, offering direct access without driving to the trailhead. OHV riders get nearly direct access to Forest Service trails and roads from camp.
What to Know
Forty-seven sites (#1-#25, #27-#30, and #32-#49) take reservations, while 22 others operate first-come, first-served. The campground's location away from the marina keeps it less occupied than other options in the recreation area, though this creates more breathing room between sites.
An RV dump station sits two miles away with a $5 fee. The Eagle Lake Marina store stocks gas, propane, fishing and camping supplies, plus shower and laundry facilities for those needing them.
Nearby
Eagle Lake offers fishing for the native Eagle Lake Rainbow Trout, a California Heritage Trout. The lake's size provides ample room for swimming, kayaking, water skiing, and all motor or sail boating without 2-cycle restrictions. Kayakers and personal pontoon fishing enthusiasts specifically choose Christie for lake access.
The Osprey Overlook offers scenic views of the lake's southern end and surrounding forest basin, reachable by hiking or driving. Lassen Volcanic National Park sits within an easy day's drive for those wanting to explore beyond the immediate recreation area.
