Sitting at 775 feet in a broad desert wash just west of Borrego Springs, Borrego Palm Canyon Campground delivers the full range of comforts you'd expect from a developed state park campground—flush toilets, coin-operated hot showers, potable water, a dump station, and a small camp store. Sites 1–51 feature full electric/water/sewer hookups, making them a reliable destination for RV travelers who want the amenity of full services without sacrificing desert atmosphere.
The campground's biggest draw beyond the facilities is direct access to the Borrego Palm Canyon Trail, a 3-mile round-trip through a dramatic canyon that shelters one of California's largest native California fan palm oases. The trail begins at the west end of the campground, so you can be on the path before the desert heat builds.
Peak season runs October through May; summer temperatures regularly exceed 110°F and the park strongly discourages camping then. Reservations are mandatory from October 1 through April 30 and should be booked well in advance through ReserveCalifornia—weekend spots in winter fill months out. The five group sites (G1–G5) accommodate gatherings at $125/night and warrant their own reservation.
Dogs are permitted in the campground and on paved roads but are not allowed on trails. Generators may run between 10 AM and 8 PM only. Check-in is at 2 PM; checkout at noon.
